# Adding metadata via a local file

Is there a way to add metadata like “Title” and “Sort Title” via a file in the directory with the video file? The would allow moving the files to a different Plex server without losing that data.

For instance, if I wanted the James Bond movies sorted like, “James Bond 20: Casino Royale” (made up the number) so that all Bond films were sorted together and in the right order. If Plex supported a file like: metadata.nfo that I could put “Title: Sort Title:” in.

Any thoughts?

Default Collection Sort Order is - “Release Date”  
Before that (when they were just in the Library with everything else) I made all of their Sort Titles: “James Bond YEAR” \<—yea, by hand - 26 times. It really wasn’t a big deal as I recall.
