Feature Request: super video nerd transcoder settings!
Feature: user definable server side profiles for trans-coding intended for advanced users who will not hang themselves with the rope provided.

Details: With this feature the user can name clients in a unique manner. "My Nexus 7" "Gabes Galaxy Tab 10.1," etc. Then, on the server the admin/user can define the available trans-code options for each client as well as a set of trans-code settings for unknown devices.

Alternately, the user could just define a set of profiles, name them and have those exposed on the client.

Why? I know x264 can do better than what I am currently seeing.

This feature would allow the user to set the following options:

For video:
[\*]Profile Friendly Name IE: "Ian's Super Kick Ass OMFG I'm Killing the Server With This Nexus 10 Profile"
[\*]Width (image would be constrained to this)
[\*]Height (image would be constrained to this)
[\*]CBR or VBR
[\*]Video Bitrate (int)
[\*]Video Peak Bitrate (int) (for VBR)
[\*]CABAC (bool, default false)
[\*]B-Frames (int, default 0)
[\*]B-Adaptive (int, default 1)
[\*]Weighted P-Frames (bool, default false))
[\*]8x8DCT (bool, default false)
[\*]Search Range (int, default 16)
[\*]Scene Detect (int, default 40)
[\*]trellis (bool, default false)
[\*]subme(int, default 6)
[\*]Audio codec (AAC, HEAAC, MP3, AC3)
[\*]Audio bitrate
[\*]Audio channel count
[\*]Audio Boost (int, in dB if possible)
For Music:
[\*]Profile Friendly Name
[\*]Audio codec (MP3, AAC, HEAAC)
[\*]Bit-rate
[\*]Audio Boost (int, in dB if possible)
I would love some more control over the transcoding exposed to the admin of the PMS.

I stream to a Nexus 10 and a 3.7" phone @ 800x480. To keep the quality good enough for the tablet I feel like I’m really wasting the quality when I stream to the phone. Unless I’ve really missed a setting somewhere that could really help me 🙂
