After rescan with new agent, can't find some movies

Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931

I updated to the the version mentioned above and converted to the new Agents for TV and Movies. Now some of my movie files do not generate the right movies (I use match/fix match to fix) and some are erroneously grouped together. I can fix the ones grouped together (using split/match). How can I find out what movies have multiple files associated with them without drilling into each one or using the info menu option? For example, “Blade Runner 2049” is no where to be found but the media file was scanned. so it is probably combined with a different movie I looked in the info for “Blade Runner” and they were not combined.

Is there a log or .xml file I can search?

I have found that with the new agents it really matters how your files are named. I would go through the actual files on your server and check the file names. I had similar problems until I went through and fixed all my file names. This can especially be a problem with TV shows. I fought with a few TV shows for a while until I realized that the file naming was so crucial. I’m posting a guide that hopefully will help you get all your files straight so you can alleviate your matching issues.

If I may add?

  1. In the past, MP4 tags were heavily used. It’s been my experience not as much anymore.

  2. Proper naming is the guaranteed way to make it work.

  3. I am willing to share my renaming rules (I use FileBot)

sort by duplicates, they are probably there. Maybe unmatched as well.

I renamed the file to include the date, I checked and corrected all “duplicates and unmatched” and rescanned the movies libraries files multiple times. No joy.

Then I:
removed the file from the server
rescanned
copied the file back to the server
rescanned

What do you know, it was found and matched correctly.

Thanks to all who helped. I’m not sure which part “fixed” it but it is solved and I really appreciate the help.

what you do when nothing else works.

It works because PMS keeps the header’s checksum in the database.

If it sees that header again – same file – so it does nothing.

Make it forget about it then it will scan again as new.
