I’ve been running PMS on a dedicated Win 7 machine for the last several years. Over the last several months I noticed that metadata was no longer being added to new files. When I try to manually match the movie (eg. Onward (2020).mkv) I get an error, “No matches found”.
This has never been a problem before and only just started recently. I’ve so far tried the following:
Downloaded and installed the latest update to PMS
Ensure correct naming of all new media files
Emptied the trash in both Movie and TV Show libraries
Cleaned bundles
When reviewing my logs the one error that keeps popping up is:
ERROR - Error response for update: 5 (Unhandled exception)
Thanks. Below is what I got back. Hope it makes sense:

I’ve manually stepped through each folder in the path and ensured that all listed users have “Full Control”.
I retried the previous link and unfortunately seems to return the same response:
<SearchResponse status=“Unhandled exception” code=“5” details="Traceback (most recent call last): File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\System.bundle\Contents\Code\agentservice.py”, line 217, in search def info_lock(): File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\Framework\api\threadkit.py”, line 189, in _lock_decorator_inner return f(*args, **kwargs) File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\System.bundle\Contents\Code\agentservice.py”, line 219, in info_lock if identifier not in Core.messaging.plugin_list(): return SearchResponse(**AgentResponse.AgentNotFound) File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\Framework\components\messaging.py”, line 191, in plugin_list xml_str = self._core.networking.http_request(‘http://127.0.0.1:32400/:/plugins’, timeout=None, cacheTime=0).content File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\Framework\components\networking.py”, line 242, in content return self.str() File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\Framework\components\networking.py”, line 220, in str self.load() File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\Framework\components\networking.py”, line 165, in load self._core.networking._save() File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\Framework\components\networking.py”, line 297, in _save self._cookie_jar.save(self._cookie_file_path) File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\python27.zip_MozillaCookieJar.py”, line 118, in save f = open(filename, “w”) File “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-513b381af\Framework.bundle\Contents\Resources\Versions\2\Python\subsystem\ospathfix.py”, line 70, in builtins_open return builtins[’_open’](longpathify(uni(filename)), mode, buffering) IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: u’\\?\C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Data\com.plexapp.system\HTTPCookies’ "/>
However all users and admins now have full read/write permissions on “C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server” on down, so shouldn’t PMS still be able to edit the files and folders therein?
I don’t know. I’ll need to see a screenshot of the security tab for the Plex Media Server folder. Select your windows user you are using. You can PM the image to me.

I am having the same issue as well.
Errors in logging:
(See attached log file)
This just started happening recently. I have validated that the folder / file naming standards have been followed per appropriate article.logging.txt (21.4 KB)
It appears to be a firewall issue. Can anyone provide insight as to the firewall exceptions that would need to be put into place for this to work? I can’t seem to locate the necessary log entries to find what its hitting externally to add in on my firewall…
UPDATE:
Found the issue. SSL Inspection on my firewall. Added in the following exceptions to the SSL Inspection rules to fix issue:
