This discussion was created from comments split from: Alexa With Samsung 2010-2015 Plex Player.
Alexa isn't working with my Samsung TV (UE60KS7000) running official plex app 3.0.6 on Tizen. Nor is remote control (companion protocol) and never has.
I think there is some confusion between the two different plex's available for Samsung TVs. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but @Orca wrote the original unofficial Samsung "Smart Hub" plex app which is currently at version 2.something. When Samsung updated their TV's to Tizen (2015 ish I guess based on the fact I have a 2014 UE40H6400 running Smart Hub and a 2016 K series running Tizen), Plex Inc took over. The app looks very different on the UE60KS7000 and is apparently developed by Plex Inc.
The original H series (Smart Hub, Orca developed version) is controllable by my iPhone. The K series (Tizen, Plex Inc developed version) cannot be controlled and does not appear in the list of available players.
I'm assuming it is for the same reason that Alexa cannot see it.
My Samsung running the official PlexTizen client got an update dated 2/24/17 and sadly to say this does not appear to add this functionality. Hopefully this will happen in the near future!
Fingers and toes crossed, or buy a Roku 3.
2 more releases have come down and still no support for this on the official Tizen client?!?!
Interesting how this was released for Samsung HUB non Tizen clients by a 3rd party before official support from Plex:
I have moved these posts into their own topic as they were in the 2010-2015 models thread
Still no support for the 2016 TV's???
