So I have some videos that are missing thumbnails. So I reviewed my settings. and ensured that previews/thumbnailing is configured. On a given video it is missing any poster/thumbnail. Run the analyze media creates video thumbnails but then fails to set them as the default thumb. I can go in and plex will show me 1-3 automatically extracted frames as thumbnails. I can manually set it, but with a high number of affected videos, id rather no do it by hand.
Where are they missing thumbnails? Do you mean that in the Library, they don’t have a Poster set? What is currently displayed? It might help to share a screenshot of the problem.
What type of videos are these - are they correctly matching with media information, or are they personal media files?

Video preview thumbnails is a feature that shows previews during playback, while seeking in apps, or in the dashboard. Just trying to understand the issue.
That sounds like either unmatched media, or personal media files, and I believe you’re referring to Posters. Is that correct?
I have not manually added any posters to plex. There are no posters, after I run Analyze they appear in the poster list, but plex doest set any of them as the default poster, unless I manually go in and do that.
id rather avoid doing the plex dance as I dont want to loose the play history.
