Android client (Xiaomi Mibox S) always transcodes even though is set to play original quality

The link still gets to a 404 error page…
Thanks anyway

@olivierlcy Here a link on GDrive I´ve uploaded https://drive.google.com/file/d/16q5bDsOwNmsa6mTeHRrQxLH-TrWqJ4mC/view?usp=sharing

Does anyone have the Armv8 build that they can share? I missed the link. :’(

Thank you very much for the information and more importantly, the fix @sixones. I’m using the Jetstream box which has a built-in Ethernet port but tried with a USB adapter too

I have this same problem using the “native” ethernet adapter on an Amlogic X2 device. Is there some news when it becomes implemented in the mainstream app?

What I think is strange that there’s talk of “preferring wireless” over wired ethernet, yet I have wireless turned off.

Using wireless isn’t much of an option as its performance is poor, but that’s not related to plex. I’m merely getting 10 Mbit/s throughput when I test the connection. On my wired connection I’m getting 100 Mbit/s

Will land in the normal release in roughly 2 weeks, if you can’t wait please join our beta!

I have tested this 7.14.0.0.9595 app on a H96 Max x2 device and it is still doing the same. I do need to stress that the symptoms described her are similar to my problems, but they are not exactly the same.

It’s not a Xiaomi Mibox!!
I was referred here because of the symptoms…

I’m getting a full speed 100 Mbit/s connection when I do a speedtest. That’s because the Ethernet is apparently 100 Mbit and not 1 Gbit.

When I have wireless turned off I’m getting an awful picture. People say “SD” here, but it’s worse than that. Even 25 years ago you wouldn’t be watching this for pleasure. If I turn wireless on I’m getting a good picture.

Something wrong with Ethernet, you would say (not denying it), but how to explain how it’s getting full HD on wired when I connect with Chrome to my same (remote) server?

I have 1 other app that’s giving me a bad quality.
It’s the Ziggo Go app (local broadcasting service).
Something strange going on here. It’s only a certain channel sport channel that’s giving a bad quality. The other channels are fine.
Maybe unrelated, but the strange thing here is that it has no problems either when running it in Chrome.

Another thing is different with that app.
That channel is bad in wired and wireless…

Did you register that the 7.14 version does not fix the problem on a H96 Max X2 device with the Amlogic chip?

Then you should start a new thread and post your logs.

If your box doesn’t support hw decode with the choosen audio and subtitles are turned on then the video will be transcodeed too. Try to turn off the subtitles.

The fix shouldn’t matter what type of device it is. If this didn’t fix your issue, you have something else going on. Please provide a log so we can see what is going on.

Nothing gets changed.
I’m only taking out the RJ45 connector out of the TV-box so it connects to wireless.

The quality then becomes flawless (normally you would expect it to go worse on wireless)
On wired the quality is something like 0.5 Mbit/s

You could say that the wired connection is bad, but I can easily get a throughput of 100 Mbit/s up and down the Internet with speedtest.net. On top of that, it’s only the Plex player app that does this. Even if I connect web client using Chrome and use that same flick, it makes no difference if I watch it on wired or wireless.

I will sell this box to someone who doesn’t use Plex

@frater Have you tried changing the Remote Quality option in the settings? If the device identifies the connection as cellular it will still be considered remote rather than local.

For some reason it didn’t work for my Mi box S. Going to try to reinstall or something figured I would be the one it doesn’t work with. EDIT. Uninstalled then reinstalled. It’s working now. Only other thing I noticed is play smaller videos in setting is on. Goodie goodie.

The server is remote anyhow.
I have set the remote quality to 8 Mbit/s and I know how that is supposed to look.
It looks good on wireless, but on wired it becomes something similar to 0.5 Mbit/s or worse.

I’m using that Plex server which is in my other home for years with all kind of devices and it’s behind a connection capable of 35 Mbit/s upload.

Edit
Sorry… I have 2 handles (debuurman/frater) and it depends on the computer which handle I’m using. I can change the handle for plex.tv itself, but somehow not for the forum. I have no time to investigate why.

The forum uses the same Plex account you are logged into plex.tv with.

Can you provide me the log from the app?

I test with mi box S the bêta and a movie with dts and subtitle don’t work

I have tested the beta and I’ve found the following:

  • no subtitle: direct play, freeze & restart after 10-15 min
  • subtitle: error message, fails to play
  • setting subtitles to burn always from automatic, plays the movie with transcoding.

On top of that there is constant restarts of the plex app.

Testing environment:
Wired connection with TP-link ethernet usb adapter
App settings: everything maximum settings, auto adjust off

Hello,

same problem with subtitle after install the beta, direct play, freeze and restart after 1min.
Can you fixed it?

I’ve elected to wait till these beta changes get pushed into the stable client app which I hope happens soon, if they don’t, I’ll install the beta.
