Android TV - Choppy Framerate with Handbrake DVD Rips - HD videos run fine

Don’t de-interlace material that isn’t interlaced.
Stop turning 30fps into 60. <—Bob is not your friend.
On sporting events 60fps may be preferred - otherwise not.
Use Same as Source/Variable Frame Rate

Make a preview or two - stick them in an Other Videos Library and play on everything you have - report back.

FYI:
Here’s what I use (DVD section below HD section) and they Direct Play on everything in the known universe (and on some stuff in the unknown universe - Australia/Ohio):

If you really want to starve some DVD bit rates - Like I’m doing today cause 1) I have more TV Show Episodes than I know what to do with and 2) I need to get something that looks great - and takes about 10 minutes per hour to encode.

Try these on for size - be amazed and report back:

If you must de-interlace use Yadif Default - no detection.
And DO maintain that Lapsharp Filter.

That’s right - 850Kbps/2 Pass (We’re starvin’ it - let’s give it all the help we can).

I gotta tell ya - I just changed my default 480 User Profile - it’s working great.

Note: I would not starve 1080s this severely (2650Kbps is low enough, even for me), but I am getting some nice results with 720s @ 1050Kbps.
