Title says it all. Would love to be able to use vlc or mx player as default players on my androidtv player (Nvidia shield), supports more codecs than the standard player… Could open up the option to pass-through hd audio and such, as they work in kodi. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk ---

Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate > [@\[Feature request\] external player on androidtv](https://forums.plex.tv/t/feature-request-external-player-on-androidtv/96517): > > Please add the option for the androidtv platform to use an external player like in the regular android app. Had to return my nexus player because direct play just wouldn’t work in plex, but I plan on buying a Razer Forge TV or Nvidia Shield console when they come out, and really want to use plex on them. I believe being able to use another player would help fix most issues. ---
