Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: 3.108.2

When updating, it never fails… it overwrites the systemd service file.
I have now come across this on Fedora 28,29 and 30 + Ubuntu 18.04.
The systemd file gets updated with installing the update from repo, where it should check if file is present, if present then leave it alone.

Can this be changed to not overwrite the file on update as it is very annoying to have to correct this.

Path: /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/plexmediaserver.service
Lines 19 and 20:
User=plex
Group=plex

It would be greatly appreciated if a check was added before forcing the overwrite.

Kind regards

This behavior is deliberate. You need to create your own override file that will not be overwritten at each update. See:

> [@Customizing your Plex configuration](https://forums.plex.tv/t/customizing-your-plex-configuration/205443):
>
> Customizing your Plex configuration on systemd based systems This information is intended for those systems where cat /proc/1/comm returns systemd. On systems which use Systemd (Ubuntu 16+, Fedora, Centos 7, Debian 8,) you create this customization file which SystemD reads prior to launching PMS. This file is independent of the default configuration and service control mechanisms in /lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service. Your customization override is preserved across updates, uninstal…
