I have been fighting this issue for the past week. Remote access has been working for years, I have a lifetime Plex pass. I had a problem with my Plex server and did a backup restore but that didn’t help. So I spin up another Plex server but have not been able to get remote access to work. I’m running it on Proxmox V8 on an Ubuntu server VM. Internally it works just fine.

Externally I have a private IP address and I can [http://privateIP:32400](http://privateip:32400/) and get to Plex and also via the Plex app on my iPhone so I know the port is open (WiFi off). But every time I try to get Remote Access green checkmark in the Plex web app it always fails. Tried turning manual port on/off (32400), setting different upload speeds, etc. I have asked several remote users and they can’t connect. I sent new invites and same story.

Any ideas?

Go to the cache directory in your plex media server folder. Is there a certificate.p12 file? If so, stop plex, rename it certificate.p12.old and start plex. It should download cert-v2.p12.
