Maybe ATV 2.7 will finally resolve this problem? I passed on the recent Plex Pass promo code offer because of this broken feature.
When itās fixed, youāll see it mentioned in the release notes.
Ok, but WHEN : In one day, one week, one month, one year⦠???
ATV updated this morning, release 2.7 : still no fix !!!
I canāt give an ETA, Iām afraid.
Weāre closing in on 4 months without music.
Abbey Road in 5.1 is coming out Friday running out of time!
Time flies. Canāt wait for AR in 5.1. Come on Plex. Help us out here!
Plex for Apple TV Version 2.8 is now available:
NEW: Record Live TV directly from the player.
FIXED:
- Cancelling a recording would show the wrong message.
- DVR Schedule/Priority tabs would show up for restricted users with no DVR access.
- Donāt show post-play screen with Web Shows.
- Enhanced video player would pause automatically after skipping to another video.
- Shuffling podcasts would fail.
- Sometimes duration values for podcasts in the player could have been incorrect.
- Fixed crash when sometimes switching from the Guide tab in a DVR source.
- Skipping next repeatedly in the audio player with repeat enabled could have caused a crash.
And BUG 5.1, NOTHING ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Seriously? Duration values on podcasts being incorrect has more priority than multi channel music not working at all⦠for over 4 months! Itās not like this is just an annoyance. We canāt use the frigginā product! Whatās it going to take?
Early line is even money it gets fixed in 2.9 any takers?
Iāll take that bet.
Same. Iām not holding my breath here. Kinda regret giving Plex money for a lifetime pass.
I hear ya. I started using Plex so that I could digitize my movie/tv collection, but the multi-channel music became a major part of how I use Plex. I have friends coming over in early December and if Plex isnāt working, itās gonna really suck. Maybe I should plug in my Roku box and see if that works. Iām using Emby right now, but it just isnāt as clean as Plex. Of course, Iāll take a dirty working app over a beautiful app that doesnāt work any time.
I have been having the same problem with 5.1 & Quad music files. But always thought it was the ATV settings that needed changing ever since the enhanced video player update.
Every now and then I would play with my Receiver settings , the server settings (Nvidia) and the ATV settings all to no avail.
Then I found the Plex Forum and thanks to all in this thread I donāt have to waste my time messing with settings anymore.
And thanks again for pointing me in the direction of the VLC app which plays the 5.1 Files really well. But looks terrible.
I also see that building a plex pass premium music library is not available at the moment, with the promise of the music player being upgraded ! Hopefully the 5.1 audio files fix will be in this update.
Mr. MC plays it perfectly.... on Plex for apple TV, no center channel so Maxwells Silver Hammer becomes an instrumental.... late for a fix.
Today was a nice wasted day trying to get my system working the way it did 6 months ago⦠As it turns out Emby now has issues on the ATV with FLAC files. I played with FLAC and ALAC files to no avail. So, I pulled out my sleeping Roku box and tried Plex and Emby on that one. Neither worked and the Roku music app is a joke. I tried streaming from my phone. Nope. My last resort was pulling out my Chromecast that I hadnāt used in a couple of years. It wouldnāt stream FLAC either. BUT⦠It did stream ALAC files. Of course, when it appeared that FLAC was going to be better supported, I converted my ALACās to FLACs and stopped ripping to that format. Now Iāve got to figure out which albums need to be ripped to ALAC. AND, I have to keep both formats even longer while I wait this support issue out. And where did the day go?
Plex for Apple TV Version 2.9 is now available (see https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-for-apple-tv/121357/71) but nothing for 5.1 bug. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
I think Mike owes me on the 2.9 bet.
I donāt really know what is going on behind the scenes, but if I were to take a wild guess⦠Both Plex and Emby are now using the Apple TV audio player, I believe, to stream these files. It aināt workinā and thatās probably Appleās fault. VLC works because they wrote their own audio player. If Iām right, this means that Plex is either waiting for Appleās fix or is going to have to write their own player from scratch. Am I at all close @DaveBinM?
Nope!
We use our own custom audio player, which gives us the ability to do volume levelling, Sweet Fades, and play a lot more audio codecs. I donāt think all those features have yet made it to the Apple TV, but we do still want to resolve this issue.
