# ARTISTSORT Tag (FLAC)

Does Plex read the FLAC ARTISTSORT Tag?  
For example, while my FLAC for ARTIST: David Bowie has as ARTISTSORT: Bowie, PLEX has Sort Artist as David Bowie. (PLEX does, however, read the ALBUMSORT FLAC Tag)

I’ve manually corrected my Artists in PLEX.

It does. However, once the Album Artist exists in Plex’s database, it won’t be changed by newly arriving tracks which may be tagged differently.

When I first created the Music Library, I selected use local metadata in Advanced, so shouldn’t plex have locked it so it wouldn’t be overwritten? Also, not sure where Plex gets the info on line (musicbrainz?), but not sure why they sort an Artist by First Name,

Musicbrainz is where the metadata comes from. You can change the sort tag using musicbrainz Picard. Picard is a meta data and music file organizer.

You can set up scripts to automatically flip the sort from first, last to last,first or delete the sort field if you want.

Plex should not override the FLAC Tag metadata when use local metadata is set in Advanced
