Auto update to 1.15.1.791

Server Version#:1.141.5488
Hi all.
Why is auto update asking for removal of the previous version when updating to the latest version, 1.15.1.791?
Do i lose all my stats, databases then?

Earlier it have never asked that question.

I’m running PLEX on ReadyNas OS6.

regards

Hans

Same here. I’m in loop!

Guys I don’t know if it applies to you but I have a Netgear ReadyNAS 212 and was running 1.14.1.5488 and I updated manually straight over the top with a beta 1.15.1.x and it was a disaster. EPG started taking 8 hours to update and as soon as it finished it started again. Recordings were failing and at times PMS was unuseable. I eventually had enough and manually deleted PMS and started again installing 1.14.1.5488 and all good again.
I think 1.14.1.5488 is the last public version of the “larger” PMS download files (92.6mb) whereas starting at 1.15.x the downloads are only 72.6mb.
My personal experience on my netgear NAS suggests not to update to 1.15.x over 1.14.1.5488. If it says uninstall 1.14.1.5488 first then I definitely would.

Sorry I have no idea about whether you lose stats, database etc

I have the same concerns. It used to always show ARMv6 and give me something like this:
plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries-annapurna_1.9.4.4325-1bf240a65_armel

Now it shows ARMv7 (it looks like its an upgrade) and gives me a different name than in the past:
plexmediaserver-annapurna_1.15.2.793-782228f99_armel

As mentioned it states it will remove previous version. This sounds like it makes sense, but I dont want to chance it until someone has verified this actually works.

Also mine doesnt show an update is ready all the time. Sometimes it does and other times I just have to go check (like today).

Same issue with the last one.
Updating will remove the previous version…

Hey, come on PLEX staff, please clarify, will i lose all my statistics or not?
It’s not just to update…

Full of bugs! On my ReadyNAS RN214 it:

Would not STOP
I Could NOT remove it
I could not stop it with proper SSH commands
I could not remove it with proper SSH commands

Thinking there was something wrong with RN214 I did a full factory reset and installed it again. I got the same results. So instead of waiting for hours for my NAS to Sync and format yet again, I just deleted the folder plex media server was installed in and restarted my NAS. Sure enough Plex was gone. I went into ReadyNAS apps store and installed the version from there and it’s working. I will not update again until a NEW release comes out to correct these issues. Something greater than V1.15.2.793.

I posted I was having issues in another thread (RN214 Won't turn off Plex!) I started but AFAIK I’ve had no response from anyone in support. Glad I haven’t upgraded to Plex Pass or I might be angry enough to really complain and maybe even switch back to Emby or PlayOn…yeah right.

I had the same problem on my RedyNAS RN212. I fixed it by doing the following:

  1. Made sure I was signed out of my Plex account
  2. Opened MobaXterm Personal (Graphical SSH client.
  3. logged into my RN212
  4. Manually deleted the plexmediaserver under the Apps folder (long slow process)
  5. Rebooted my RN212
  6. Did a fresh install of PMS 1.14.1.5488
  7. Rebooted RN212
  8. Launched PMS and left it to sync overnight.

It now works perfectly. The ON and OFF both work.

I don’t intend updating further. as far as I’m concerned the new slimmer PMS versions - 1.15.x onwards - are a disaster.

You don’t happen to know where I could get the ARM version of 1.14.1.5488 do you? That’s the last one that worked right for me too.

I’ll try anything new after these 1.15.2.793 because I simply can’t believe the devs aren’t doing something to fix the issues.

I have the one I installed on my RN212. It’s the ARM RN2xx.
If you want it I have uploaded it here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-YT_kcekeAd0UZBf-A6T7qEJ92scNeYJ/view?usp=sharing

Thanks so much for the link.

I have it now so if you need to you can remove it.

If Plex is going to keep using us as beta testers for final releases they should make an archive of old versions available so we can roll back if we need to. Just sayin’…

Again, thanks much for the file!

I finally was forced to try to update because Plex was no longer running for me. It fails when I update to the version you supplied and it fails when I upgrade to the latest. How do I log in with the MobaXterm? I have never logged into my Netgear before.

The default login is
Username: root
Password: password

Click on the session icon at the top left of MobaXterm and on the window that opens click on SSH enter the IP of your readyNAS eg 192.168.1.101 and click the box Specify username and enter root. and click OK. Login then use the graphical interface on the left. Double click on the … at the top to gfet you to the root directory and it will display all the folders on the readyNAS. Open the data folder. PMS is in there.

BTW once you do a clean install of PMS 1.14.1.5488 do not update it.

You need to start from scratch to install PMS 1.14.1.5488 by completely removing the plexmediaserver folder from the data folder on the readyNAS. Stop the PMS service first if possible.

Any idea how to gain access when it refuses? After entering ‘root’ and clicking ok, connection is refused. Yes the IP is correct, and the NAS is fully usable through its web interface and through local LAN on the computer.
I found a setting under the admin profile “allow SSH” but that didn’t allow it either.

When you log into the readyNAS admin, under System click on the Settings icon and make sure the SSH service is enabled.
Also when logging into MobaXterm make sure you enter both the username (root) and password (password).
Not sure what to suggest otherwise.

That was missing, yes. Now enabled, but still refusing both with root/password and my actual admin login/pass.

Sorry no idea. Works for me. Seems like you need someone with SSH expertise (which isn’t me which is why I use a graphical program like MobaXterm).

Maybe open a new topic asking for help with SSH to access your readyNAS.
