Plex requires a rollback and server settings functionality. I know that a volunteer here on the forum has generously written and supports a PoSH script, but that is a kludge. Plex needs to do this esp. for PAYING subscribers, and a rollback feature for when an update BUGGERS an individual user’s local install. This is no longer a “nice to have” it’s a we’ve got to have this or people are going to start going with other media solutions. When will this be implemented? A week? A month? 90 days? Please advise. ---

Tom- The rollback is a “must have” IMHO. For backup, to clarify, I meant of the server metadata - the databases that track, tage and maintain the content, not the media content itself. Migration of the actual media content to a new system isn’t a big deal. Migration of server metadata is, however, a PITA. What I’m envisioning is a “drop into the default install directories” backup capability. My metadata backed up by the PoSH script is about 24 gigs of data, so not large but that’s metadata on thousands of files because it includes photos and music in addition to video files. ---

So we’re indeed talking about the same scope/context that’s described in the existing feature suggestions linked above? If so, I suggest you comment/vote in those threads in order to avoid distracting votes ---

OttoKerner, what you link to is not good enough. You need an AUTOMATED rollback capability if a version upgrade goes South it should be part of the installation routine for a new version update. It should not be on the end user to go through a detailed restore when a version update buggers everything. What you describe is NOT a rollback capability, at least not something that end users will find easy to use. ---

Thanks for your feedback. Yet the Plex team did not seem to find a way or did not consider this important to develop a very simple tool like a wizard to easily achieve what we want to do. I backed up the directory without Cache, I backed up the registry and all its a mess. Now I am in the process of reinstalling the whole plex server from scratch because I see errror of every sort everywhere and this is really annoying.
