# Best 1080p bitrate

hello  
I recently made a plex server.  
Wanted to ask is better 1080p 15Giga size and 20 mega bitrate or 2 Giga size and 2 mega bitrate.  
For storage is better the secound option but what about quality, on a big TV?

Higher bitrate usually means a significant better quality.  
If you’re not running out of storage, why not keep the original quality and avoid the loss of quality.  
The server should be able to transcode the file if needed (e.g. if you’re streaming from outside your home network and don’t have the upload bandwidth to sustain the 20-30 Mbps of the original file) or want to play at a lower quality.

Well, i want to store a lot of movies, but for now im running out of space nee to put 2 more hdd of 20 tb. I have serials, cartoons and anime so it is a lot. If its not to much of a quality loss it might be ok to get the lower one. For now i dont have a big tv so i cant say 🙂

There are a lot of “it depends” factors, but most would say that a 2 GB movie seen at 2 Mbps would look like garbage on any reasonably sized screen.

I ususally get the 2160p, 7.1.2+ 50-80gb version to have the best image/sound quality.

for me its to much,for 1 time watch it might be good, but to save it long term its a no.
