# Buffering Direct Play

Hello:

I have Linux Debain Plex server and when I direct play, even SD or 480p content, my nVidia Shield Pro will start to buffer after about 5 mins into the show/movie and if I stop and start again the buffering will start after 30 seconds or so. However, if I play the exact same file from my friend’s server (with similar hardware setup), the file plays just fine. It’s not on all my media but it does happen on many of them.

The Plex console shows that the file is Direct playing so I don’t think it’s a transcoding issue and when I play it using a different player like Android or the desktop player it plays just fine.

Anyone have any tips? I’m happy to provide logs or a [sample file](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201035968-generating-sample-files-from-media/), etc.
