# \[Bug\] Plex transcodes video when it should only transcode audio

Plex client version?  
Client device - Shield, FireStick 4K, etc?.

- Set your server for debug, not verbose, level logs. See [Reporting issues with Plex Media Server](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/).
- Enable logging in the Plex Android TV app. See [Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Portal Logs](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/)
- Play one of the problematic movies/shows for 15 - 30 seconds (to capture the problem)
- Stop playback, wait 1 minute (to let the server capture everything)
- Pull server and client log files and attach to thread.
- Gather XML information for the movie/show with which you ran the test. Save as a .txt file and attach to the thread. See [Investigate Media Information and Formats](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201998867-investigate-media-information-and-formats/).
