since a recent server update, podcast playback has gotten a lot buggier on both my android devices (pixel xl and nvidia shield). viewing podcasts often takes a very long time, and sometimes fails with a message saying podcasts are unavailable. once I get to a podcast I want to play, 90% of the time playback fails to start, and once it does start, it often fails partway through. playback seems to work fine through the web interface, so it doesn’t seem to be entirely a problem with the server itself, but rather an interaction between the android app and the server.
I’m using plex because I already use it for everything else, and because I can’t seem to find an android app which doesn’t leak my personal info all over the place. it’s not where I’d like it to be, but I believe the plex devs will improve it, otherwise I wouldn’t report these issues.

Yeah, I wanted to use Plex for everything too. But I couldn’t live with the app crashing during podcast playback dozens of times a day…
I keep coming back to check in and see if it’s now working reliably so I can switch back from Google Podcasts.
At this point, I’m not hopeful, judging from the unsolved bug reports and other instability I’m seeing reported on the forums.
So yeah, there’s definitely some schadenfreude involved when I see you and others struggling with these problems. But long term, I’d love to come back to Plex if they can un-suck podcasts and restore my faith.
I paid for a Plex pass, I support the app and use it regularly. I tried providing logs and videos to demonstrate my problems, and the devs couldn’t fix them, so I gave up and only use Plex for video.
