# Build Plex media server

Good morning, Im here new.

I want make plex media server from old pc. When I buy GPU GTX 1050 Ti is good for two simultaneous streams in 1080P?

CPU: Intel® Core™ i3-3220 3.30 Ghz  
Ram: 4GB  
OS: win 10

Just a few notes:

1. keep in mind you’ll need an active Plex Pass membership in order to use he-accelerated transcoding
2. hw-accelerated transcoding won’t cover every possible use case… if your client/player cannot deal with certain subtitle formats relevant to you, burning those into the video won’t be covered by the GPU
3. that i3 is a really old CPU… it might still be able to do 1-2 simple transcodes but that’ll very much turn the machine in a radiator

I have another question. When I add GPU Nvidia Quadro P2000. is good for transcoding (three simultaneous streams in 1080P) or still need upgrade CPU?. Thank you for reply

Sorry, I don’t know how that GPU will perform.  
My remarks #1+2 will be true for all (i)GPUs.
