Building my first server soon, all monitors 4k save for 1, is a 1700 a good cpu for my usage?

I hope this is the right forum for this…

But anyway I have an amd 1700 lying around, and a 750ti but it cant do the gpu encoding from what I understand so meh, and am wanting to finally build a plex server since i know how to rip 4k blurays now. All my displays save for 1 are already 4k, so I wouldnt need transcoding for them, but for the 1 that is only 1080p would this cpu be enough to transcode for it and let 1 or 2 other streams be going via direct play? All hooked up via gigabit ethernet network if it matters.

Or would I be better off trading it for say a 2400g with its built in amd gpu and use gpu transcoding for that one display and then direct play for all else??

for 4k, plex recommends at least 17000 passmark for cpu transcoding (no gpu)

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201774043-what-kind-of-cpu-do-i-need-for-my-server/

that particular cpu has ~13772 @ PassMark - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - Price performance comparison

If you have it, why not try it out, see what you see. But now is not the time to design / invest in 4k transcoders. because of the tone mapping issue, it is impossible to do correctly now. Spending money on a solution that may not work once this problem is solved could be very frustrating. I would make do with what you have for now
