# Can "Plex Optimized Versions" files transfer to a new server?

Hi there,

I have a 500+ collection of Movies that I have had my Plex Server run its Media Optimizer over so my sister can watch with her diabolically poor broadband without hosing my equally diablolically-poor server. The optimized files are “in folders with original items” (ie inside a “Plex Versions” folder.) It took \> 1 month to do the optimizing!

I am thinking of getting a new server on a VPS with Google Drive and am wondering whether my hard-won “optimized versions” can just be copied up to Google Drive, or will I have to re-run the Media Optimizer on the new server? I.e. will a new Plex server notice the “Plex Versions” folder and populate its database appropriately?
