# Cannot add album art

Hi All
I am new to plex and have come up with a problem I am sure someone here can help me with,I have about 900 music albums in my collection all with album art stored on a external hard drive when I pointe Plex in the direction of the drive it saw all th albums and imported all the info,going through the albums on Plex I notice some albums have no art work,when I click on the album edit button (the little pencil)there is a feature to add an image when I click here it allows me to go to a folder on my pc where I keep copies of all my album artwork when I sellect the image and click open The top of the box turns red and it says error occured please try again this happens every time,you can also drag and drop an image and doing this I get the same error message I have tried this with various albums that have missing art work with the same results I have exhausted my know how on how to solve this please help someone

Put your album art into the folder of the record album and name it `folder.jpg` or `folder.png`, depending on the file format.
(Of course this only works if you store your files for each album into a separate folder. But that is recommended anyway.)
Once you have placed the coder files, perform a ‘Refresh Metadata’ on the album. The file will then appear for selection when you ‘edit’ an album.

Thanks for your reply,I understand what you are saying but I don’t understand why only 3 or 4 out of 900 did not get detected and uploaded automatically I have been to my libary folder and not one of my albums have a folder.jpg in the album folder so the album art must be imbedded in the metadata i didn’t mention in my post that my albums are all flac format

If Plex can identify/match the album, it will also download album art from last.fm. This is even the default.
But this automatic recognition fails for some albums. Then it must fall back to locally available album art.

Thanks again for your reply,I tried what you said to do I copied the album art into the album folder and named it as you said and unfortunately this also failed should I have put the art wrk in a folder inside the album folder or just the art work into the folder with the album tracks sorry about all the dumb questions

Make sure you have ‘Local Media Assets’ enabled under
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - last.fm
and also under
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - Personal Media Albums
