After the update the download arrow has disappeared on my plex. I cannot download episodes for offline viewing. Have others experienced this problem? ---

Is this an episode of a local or shared library, or some content from Plex’s Discover? If it’s a shared library… did the owner give you permission to download media from their libraries? ---

Yes - the owner has given me permission. I talked with him today and it is turned on - permission for me to download. For months with the old interface it worked 24/7 - bit this morning after downloading the new update it disappeared. The owner has no idea why. ---

Again - This error occurred in connection with downloading the new big update for plex. Right after the update the download function disappeared. ---

For context… is this the iOS or Android version? Which exact version (there’s already been a first update). Edit: bonus questions… 1. can you still download the episode from the desktop app (Plex for Mac/Windows/Linux)? 2. can you please double-check if the download button might’ve gotten collapsed into the context menu (3 stacked dots)? ---

There’s no consistency anymore. I went into one show and could download each episode one at a time (annoyingly!). Another show I tap on the season and it opens one episodes page. I tap “go to season” and nothing happens. The lower bar where it has go to season and go to show do not work. In some shows tapping a season shows you all the episodes. Some will only go to the first episode if you tap on a season. Why? I really don’t understand this update. SO much is bad now. -Downloading on episode at a time -Only Watch in landscape so no phone/portrait videos -Have to be in a library to switch libraries, can’t do it from home -Cluttered with nonsense like watchlist and live tv and no option to customize -Continue watching shows season cover art and not the show cover art -Can’t delete anything -I will start an episode and in a minute in the episode will jump back to the beginning. I have to skip to about 5 min in to keep it playing. -My watch history is only TV shows, no movies ---

I ended up paying for a month of plex pass - and that worked. Now the download button has magically appeared again. Luckily after April 29 I will not need to purchase plex pass anymore since I am a user from somebody else who has plex - and I will not need a separate plex pass but can be under his. Irritating that having an IOS smartphone is the reason why I had to pay for a month of plex pass. At least I can download now. ---

Um, hasn’t Downloading always required having a Plex Pass? Unless you are in the Home of a Plex Pass user (not the same as being invited to the server), are a Managed User of a Plex Pass user, or have your own Plex Pass, you cannot download media from a server, even if the owner gave you permission. Edit: Ah, I think old accounts before some time in 2024, you could download if the server’s account had a Pass? Or am I remembering something wrong? ---

I’m having a similar issue. I can download individual episodes from my TV Shows but the option to choose how many to download and keep locally has gone. There is no download icon on the top level view anymore after the update to the latest iOS app. Automatic downloads was one of my favourite features! Please bring it back! ---

I have been a managed user of a plex pass user. But as soon as that update came out last week, I suddenly couldn’t download anymore even though the plex pass user has a plex pass. From April 29 it should be back to “normal” for me again - that his plex pass will work for me as a registered user. Problem for me was that the update eliminated this and forced me to purchase a months plex pass. ---

Managed users are sub-accounts of the main account. They cannot purchase a Plex Pass, as there is no email address to buy it from. I know, the terminology of user types is confusing. _ **Note:** _ To know what account type you are, is to know if you have your own email address or not. - A: If to log in you use the main account’s email, then you are a Managed User. - B: If you have your own email to log in but upon login you see the multi-user prompt and can select the server owner’s sub account and log into it, you are a member of the server owner’s “home”. - C: If you use your own email to log in and you only see your own admin account and any users _you_ created, then you are a normal user and have been granted access (invited) to a server. _ **End note** _ According to the [Downloads Overview article](https://support.plex.tv/articles/downloads-overview/), in order to download without a Plex Pass of your own, you must be of account type A or B, not type C. Most people are recommended to be type C, so I base my assumptions on that. If you are type B, then we know that this isn’t the reason why you cannot download. _Though if you are type C, that doesn’t explain why it worked before now, and didn’t now…_😖 _ **Edit:** _ Aha, found it. If your account is older than ~2022, then you were grandfathered in to the old requirements. Type C accounts before [August 2022](https://support.plex.tv/articles/downloads-sync-faq/) should be able to download if the server owner has a ples pass. If you are Type C, but this new client update requires you to have a Pass yourself, then this is a HUGE change that I think is unintended behavior. ---

Your image shows 0 episodes. That could be why you don’t see the option. You can’t download 0. Edit. There is a bug/ missing feature with the new app to download at the show level. ---

New Plex app for iOS and iPadOS (2025.10.2 (981)). Lifetime Plex Pass. Can only select to download a singular episode at a time as the download button is missing when you are viewing the show or a season. Can’t select to download the next x episodes that are unwatched like I used to be able to. Very disappointing!
