Can't Authorize Plex skill and Alexa

alexa
voice-control

Remote access is enabled on the server and has a green tic
I've enabled the Plex skill, but when I click the Authorize button, I get:

Oops; a 500 error...
That's "Internal Server Error" in geeky language.
We've been notified about this issue and will take a look at it shortly.
Let us take you to the main page and we can start all over again, shall we?
You can always visit status.plex.tv for current information. Thank you for your patience.

Any ideas ?

Ok - even though I've still got this Internal Server Error, I continued ...

I told "Alexa tell Plex to change my server" - (I only have one server), so it set that one - ok

In Plex, on one of my AFTV's I changed it's name to "Bedroom"
But the Plex name change didn't get picked-up until I restarted my AFTV

I told Alexa to ask Plex what I could Continue watching and it responded with:

Videos on your Continue Watching list:
The Blacklist
Defrag-Tools-183-WinDbg-Preview-Part-2_high
Defrag-Tools-182-WinDbg-Preview-Part-1_high
The last two of these aren't TV or Movies, they're "Other Videos"

I can see "Other Videos" being a problem here, because by definition they will have an unpredictable and probably long filename, and when Alexa reads-out a list of such names, they will be difficult to remember, and probably instantly forgotten.

Next, I asked it to recommend a tv show, and it suggested

S05E01 Season 5 Episode 1 - not very informative ?

I went ahead and played it, and it turned out to be Game of Thrones -
The actual filename is "Game of Thrones S05E01 The Wars to Come.mkv" but this was not shown on-screen

It's also an interesting choice, as I have all 6 GoT Seasons (though I've never watched any of them) - so why select S05E01 ?

Hi im also getting this erroe message

#5

Me too and it sure would be great if someone would look into this. I'm trying to link my Plex account to Alexa on a very extremely powerful computer and it's not working. I just get that lame-assed "Oops; a 500 error..." page. Maybe you should abandon the idea of using smart-alec humor on an error landing page, we're already frustrated enough and it really isn't funny. Just sayin'.

This kind of thing is why I use Kodi with the Emby back-end instead of Plex most of the time. None of that integrates with Alexa either BUT it doesn't say that it does then kick me in the face with some smarmy smarty-pants nonsense after it has wasted my time and still won't work anyway.

I can't link the Alexa Plex Skill to my Plex account. Fix it.
