Hi!

I’m using Plex Media Server, installed through official Debian repositories ([https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb](https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb)). I want to run PMS as other user (not _plex_) so I modified the file` /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/plexmediaserver.service` to change the user and group, but on each upgrade the file is overwritten. How can I make this change permanent? Why there’s no /etc/default/plexmediaserver or /etc/plex/server.conf to set these values?.

Thanks

On systems which use Systemd (Ubuntu 16+, Fedora, Centos 7, Debian 8,) you create this customization file which SystemD reads prior to launching PMS. This file is independent of the default configuration and service control mechanisms in /lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service. Your customization override is preserved across updates, uninstal…

Thanks, I’m an old school Linux user and I see that I didn’t dig deep enough in systemd.

I tried with `sudo systemd edit plexmediaserver.service` and worked well.
