# Cloud Google Drive.

So i just wanted to get some info about the cloud support.
So if i convert a file and upload it to the Google Drive if i give someone access to just the Google Drive would it run right from there or would it still need to be running from my plex server?

Couple things to keep in mind here. If you _share a folder_ from your Google Drive with someone, they’ll have access to all the content in that folder. Doesn’t matter what files you have in that folder.
By “convert a file” I’m guessing you mean Cloud Sync? The feature that re-encodes a file and uploads it to your chosen cloud provider to stream from them rather than your own server.
If that’s what you’re talking about, the people you share your Plex Cloud Sync folder with should be able to play directly from Google Drive since they’re standard MPEG4 videos. The problem is that they won’t know what they’re about to play until they start streaming. Cloud Sync uses its own naming convention when uploading the transcoded files (looks like a hashed file name to me). So you’ll have a bunch of files in that folder with names like CVvWEeGNlqobT-Bg-MMjOxYgdoU=.mp4 or dNBC6b7H1rCNtJ6qTq2kBLIjims=.mp4 and so on. By name, the files won’t make any sense to those you share that folder with. The thumbnail that Google Drive generates might give them a clue, but it wouldn’t be the most practical way for you to share content.

Are you wanting to use [Cloud Sync](https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201889756-Cloud-Sync-Overview "Cloud Sync") ?
Or are you uploading the files yourself to Google Drive?

I wanted to use Cloud sync for some movies for friends and family to watch but also wanted some confirmation on how it worked.
Also for the Player Settings i wanted to get some confirmation as well.
So right now these are my settings.
Local - 4 Mbp 720
Remote - 2 Mbp 720
Online - 2 Mbp 720
So this is what i think these would be…
Local - In house items like Smart TV, Chromecast, Web Player from Server URL
Remote - [Plex.tv](http://Plex.tv) Web Player
Online - All Friends and Family
Please let me know if this is right

You can’t set the quality for your friends and family. They have to set the quality in their own player.

Ok…So this is to anyone that has friends and family watching there plex out side there homes.
Best way to deal with network lag when they are streaming?
My Upload and Download are fine…
But when others are streaming my network feels it…
Any ideas?
