# Codec support on SteamOS

Server Version#: 4.162.1  
Player Version#: 1.70.1.303-5bbf114f

I recently got a Steam Machine, and I’ve installed Plex HTPC on it. From what I can tell, it doesn’t support proprietary codecs like DTS, Atmos, DV, etc.

Is this a limitation of the Plex HTPC app, or of SteamOS itself?
