Collections aren’t implemented to their fullest potential in Plex yet. I think what most people would expect (myself included) would be for a collection to show up as a single movie poster that acts as a container for the movies in that collection.

This way, you could group, for example, all the Star Wars movies together and not have them take up 6 positions in the list of movies.

I saw on the plex forums that this feature was requested ages ago, but still isn’t implemented, so who knows when/if we’ll see it.
Collections are mostly useless without it imo.

Users: “We want X!”
Plex: (only has Y and Z)
Plex: (redefines “X” as meaning (1/2_Y+pi_Z)/A with a bit of B and C thrown in on every other Tuesday)
Plex: “We have X already! See? Aren’t we so wonderful? Enjoy!”

It should be noted that all those threads are in the Feature Request Voting forum, which is only accessible to Plex Pass holders.
