Thanks i should of mentioned i know how to setup collections on plex i was just wondering if there was a way it was automatically done without me doing anything like on emby but i am guessing on plex the only option is “Use collection info from The Movie Database” i have now enabled this so it should put my movies into collections ?

Yes, as long as your movies are listed as in a collection on TMDB.

Or if you use the mp4 file format, you can use the embedded meta tag ‘Album’.

You just tick the checkbox.
(to be on the safe side, tick the checkbox in the properties of both the Plex Movie and the TheMovieDatabase agents.)

Then Refresh Metadata on the movies.

Thanks it has put stuff into collections now i didn’t know American Psycho had a sequel ha, also black panther has been put into a collection on its own is that because there is a sequel scheduled ?

A few more questions if i may… is there a way to add extras and have them show up in plex correctly ?

Is there a way to have synopsis/information in the collection instead of just showing the movies ?
Thanks

No, that’s one of the reasons why this check box is off by default. Some overzealous editors at TMDB put every movie into its own collection. Just for the sake of it.

For movies, yes: [https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220677-local-media-assets-movies/](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220677-local-media-assets-movies/)
I use it myself quite extensively.

Sorry, not automatically. Not currently at least. You’d have to paste that in manually. Together with a custom collection poster.

In this case, the collection actually covers the “original” Black Panther from 2018 and the announced sequel in 2022 (“Black Panther 2”):

Is it possible to add individual TV Show episodes into a collection (not the entire series) for example, only the Christmas episodes of the Office, not ALL episodes of the office. I go not see “Collections” on the tag menu for individual episodes.

Not possible at the moment.
However there’s a related feature suggestion you can vote on:

> [@\[Implemented\] Allow "Collections" Tag for TV Show Episodes](https://forums.plex.tv/t/allow-collections-tag-for-tv-show-episodes/68094):
>
> The request: Don't remove "Collections" from the "Tags" section of TV Show episodes. The Details: I'm adding a TV show ("Good Eats") to my repository. These DVDs do not come by season--they come by topic, so for example, the first disc has a show from season 2 and 2 shows from season 3, the next disc has 1 show from each of seasons 1-3, etc. I am trying to follow Plex's naming convention for TV shows by naming each episode [Good Eats - sXXeYY - episode title.extension] and that is all …

#

Personally I’ve opted to add my x-mas episodes to a dedicated x-mas episode playlist…

A movie can be in different collections. However each collection will show the same poster for that movie.

If you must have different posters for a movie in different collections – yes… you’ll need to have 2 items.
May I ask what you’re trying to achieve with this?

#

If that’s really what you need and you’re on a Linux/Unix based system you could create a hard link to that file in a 2nd folder. That way you won’t need twice the storage for that secondary file.
