Comskip Sound/Video out of sync

I saw the update earlier this week and wanted to check it out.

Initially, it worked fine with some tv shows. However, after a few days of recording tv shows, I noticed that after the first commercial skip, the sound and video are out of sync.

Has anyone had this happen to their TV shows after applying the comskip? I did notice that i’m in the beta change, which I switched to public. Could that be the issue?

I think i’m turning this off until the next update.

Are you using the Windows App from the Windows Store to watch your recordings? I have noticed this happening when using that client. Recordings work fine on any other client.

The Beta update server is what gave you the commercial skip functionality. It has not yet been released on the Public server, so I don’t think that’s your issue.

Bear in mind that the commercial skip feature is very much in Beta… and is not guaranteed to work perfectly.

I’m running from an Apple TV. I think I had this issue also on an iPad, (It was late and I can’t remember.) I’ll try it on my other devices and report back.

Had that out of sync from the premier of Agents of Shield, on our Apple TV. Not only did it mistake a promo for the show, it cut out maybe the first 30-60 seconds after the break. After that break was when the audio sync issues started. However, I just reviewed it on my iPad Pro, and the audio was fine.

I just resumed this week’s SNL on my MacBook and the sound/video were fine. I played this on my Apple TV yesterday and after the first comskip it was all out of sync.

So it looks like this issue Is happening only on the Apple TV. Are there any settings in the app we need to tweak?

Per AmazingRando24’s comments, since this is in beta, this will be a report to the Plex team about the bug.

I noticed this behavior on my AppleTV for Hawaii Five-0. The first part was fine but as you progress into the program the sync became worse. If I calculate it right it was somewhere around 5-8 seconds off between audio and video.

So far this is the only one I’ve seen this problem with.

I’m having the same problem on Apple TV 4K. Two observations I’ve made are:

  1. If the commercial cut is perfect, the audio is fine as well

  2. If I stop playback, then resume where left off, audio will be synced again.

Lastly, I’m super happy that we get commercial cutting. I’m happy to suffer while the bugs get worked out. Thanks!

I’ve also had a few recordings end up out of sync after commercial removal. No transcoding so it stays MPEG2/AC3 before/after. Client device is a Sony Android TV running the stock Plex app. Direct Play. It does get pretty damn close though and the feature is greatly appreciated. Just a few additional tweaks and it’ll be perfect.
