Please allow users to customize or override the default genre thumbnails in the Categories section of Plex.
Why It Matters:
Many Plex users curate their libraries heavily and want the UI to reflect a consistent, personalized theme.
The current genre thumbnails are automatically generated and don’t match custom artwork or genre-specific collections.
This would bring the same customization flexibility that we already enjoy with libraries, collections, and posters.
Suggested Implementation:
Option to upload a local image for each genre tile.
Or allow genre-to-poster mapping via XML, JSON, or Kometa-like metadata files.
Use Case Example:
Just like collections, a user could upload a “Sci-Fi” poster showing Star Wars and Star Trek, or a “Comedy” tile with artwork from their favorite shows.
Conclusion:
This would be a small change with a big visual impact, especially for users who love a well-designed Plex dashboard.
