Hello,
I’ve got a couple rather basic questions. I spend some time searching for answers, looking for support articles, reading FAQs and data-security-pledges and searching the forum, but I couldnt really find answers about these topics:
When streaming something from my NAS to my TV / tablet / computer within my home-network:
Does the traffic remain within my home-network? Or does my NAS stream to an server outside of my network which then streams to my TV?
How does it work when accessing the PLEX-server from the outside of my network (e.g. via a forwarded port)?
I’m sure there are some basic support-articles that explain these very basic proceedings. Can you please guide me to them?

Clients will directly stream from your server – unless they cannot establish a direct connection (e.g. if you have setup remote access but it’s messed up); in that case a [Plex Relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/) might be used to establish the connection between client and server (this can be enabled/disabled in the server settings (`Settings` \> `[Server Name]` \> `Network` \> `Enable Relay`).

Same (incl. the exception explained above).

There’s a number of features using resources from [plex.tv](http://plex.tv) – you can e.g. use their universal watchlist or Discover features to let Plex log what media you’ve rated or watched; however those can be disabled (and even if enabled, you cannot conclude if any of those items are available on your own server, a shared server or if you simply flagged it in the `Discover` area.
