So I have a new ISP that just gives me an access point and not a router, which has resulted in a double NAT issue. I signed up for a dedicated IP from my VPN and now my public IP appears to be static … but remote access still won’t stick. Any suggestions? ---

Double nat or CG-NAT from ISP, kneecaps you by not allowing you to port forward which is needed for Plex remote access, default is 32400. Easiest solution would be to ask your ISP for static IP instead of your VPN. If you feel comfortable you can get around it by setting up a service like ngrok with plex similiar to this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/ma913e/solution\_plex\_server\_with\_ngrok\_working\_behind\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/ma913e/solution_plex_server_with_ngrok_working_behind_a/) Depending what your running PMS on, it could be slightly different. But I ran plex for months on Starlink which is the same problem I had, and got around with this! I am running mine on a Mac Mini and I did have a dynamic DNS app running for a bit I got lost. I kinda know what I’m doing … but not really. ---

Plex does have an option to use a relay too which I believe would get around double nat too. But the bandwidth is limited to 2Mbps i think? So that may be another option. DDNS isnt going to help with the 32400 port being blocked my your ISP, its only gonna to be ablet to update your public IP. There are ngrok plex dockers you can find too that further simplify the setup for it. They get around the double nat by using port 80 instead on your PMS to their relay ip, since ISP typically dont block ports 80/443! ---

What is the ISP? Is it a mobile/5g/cellular thing? On the Plex server `Remote Access` page, what IP address is listed as **Public**? Many VPN providers don’t support the type of Port Forwarding that Plex requires, but some do. Those that offer static IP addresses might work. Which VPN service? ---

The company is called Gigstreem. The internet speeds are great and the service seems to be good, it’s just this issues. The public address actually does match the canyouseeme address. I feel like that wasn’t the case the first time I tried to solve this (I took like a month off from banging my head against the wall) but now that part seeeeems to be working. I’m using PIA and they do offer port forwarding but none of the servers I connect to (including the dedicated IP I signed up for) seem to have it. ---

You have options, I’m just terrible about explaining technical stuff sometimes. Yeah, the relay solution really limits bandwidth, and part of the reason I am switching (or not) ISPs is the massive increase in upload speed I am getting. I normally run my PMS outside of my VPN, was just hoping getting the dedicated IP would through that would help somehow, but it has not. ---
