Deleted movies still taking up space on iOS devices

I’m sure this problem has been solved before, so please feel free to just point me to the solution.

I wanted to delete the “synced” movies from my iPad and rebuild a new set of “downloaded” movies (I want to do this on my kids’ iPads as well since we’re going on a car trip this weekend".

I go to sync - manage and then swipe and delete all the movies. And nothing happens. They’re still there. If I go to sync-movies they’re there. If I look at storage on my device, they’re still there. The only noticeable change is that if I go to sync-manage it is blank saying there is nothing to manage (but, again, sync-movies shows all the movies still there…).

I’ve rebooted multiple times - still no change. Why won’t Plex delete these “deleted” movies?
