# Desktop PC Search Function

There is an issue while using the search function. If I search for a movie title, Dazed and Confused for example, and search using the keywords ‘Dazed Confused’, no results get returned, but only if I search for the EXACT title ‘Dazed And Confused’ will results for the movie and albums get returned.
Or the movie Tommy Boy. If you search for the exact name, a result gets returned, but it you search for ‘Boy Tommy’, again, no results are returned.
Why is this?

Search is trying to match the entire search term you typed in. Adding or leaving out words will cause that to fail.
“Dazed” or “Confused” will work but “Dazed Confused” will not since there is nothing that matches this. Same error if you reverse words around since it’s not the same.

Searching using the words ‘dazed confused’ _used_ to bring up search results on my PC not too long ago and still does [work that way on my iPhone](https://imgur.com/a/LvT0ext). As you can see, searching only ‘dazed confused’ returns results for the movie, the soundtracks, as well as song titles. It also works [if the search terms are inverted](https://imgur.com/a/AOwCG1w) and ‘confused dazed’ are entered.
It was only recently that the search feature on the PC has started having the issue [of not returning any search results](https://imgur.com/wfWWAuZ) if the title is not entered verbatim. I had made a Reddit thread about having the issue and someone else had confirmed that they noticed the same thing had recently started happening when searching on their PC but not on their iOS app.
I have never included conjunctive words like _and, for, so, yet_, or even common adverbs like _here/there_ when searching for media in the past on my PC and have never experienced a failed search as a result of it. But since searching on iOS while excluding common conjunctive words and adverbs from movie/album titles still works, I can only guess that there must have been some change to the way the search feature on the PC works.
Just checked on the Firestick 4K, and searching for ‘dazed confused’ on there returns all the same results as the iOS app so it seems that it’s only app.plex.tv that seems to be having the issue of not returning results.

That’s exactly where I’m running into the issue on [Version 4.100.1](https://imgur.com/a/F5D6z0w)
Edit: Well, not sure what changed, but between when this issue stared and making this post a few hours ago, the search is now working properly again. As with all mysterious PC fixes, a reboot of the computer just now seemed to fix things.
