# Detect and Delete commercials?

Is this supposed to work? I have a wd pr2100 and it doesn’t work

I assume you have enabled ad detection and activated it for the library in question?

mind sharing some more details?  
there’s very little information in your post to go with…

e.g.

- how do you experience it’s not deleting commercials – is this actually about new recordings where Plex doesn’t process the files or about processing files already in your library (or something entirely different)?
- any related configurations in the library (not just the server-wide DVR settings)?
- what version of Plex Media Server do you have installed on your NAS?
- is the NAS itself up to transcode the files in question?
- …

And a very big one…what country are you in?

The Plex settings for comskip only seem to work well in the U.S., for any other country, it will burn your CPU trying to detect ads after the recording completes, and then either give you a bunch of junk that doesn’t skip correctly, or no skipping at all (i.e. it seems like it never ran).

I have disabled ad skipping for any content other than the U.S. because it just burns your CPU for no reason.

I stand corrected on the country. Comskip does seem to work for other countries, but Plex only does it automatically for items that it records using its own recording system. If you want comskip to be run on any other items than the ones Plex records, you have to manually choose “Analyze” after already setting ad skip “for all items”. It becomes painful to do this manually every time something new is added to the library that wasn’t recorded by Plex; hopefully this will become automated at some point.
