This movie:

Is listed as:

$1000 a Minute
([$1000 a Minute (1935) — The Movie Database (TMDB)](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/218388-1000-a-minute)).

And while it may seem a trivial error, the slight name difference bothers my OCD.

These are the settings I’m using:
 ![Screenshot 2023-06-03 091231](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/8/f/8/8f8489d6af1edd302209d17a9daa352d0d2f5502.png)

I have searched the forums, but I haven’t found a topic that matches what I’m asking: Where does Plex pull this info from so that I may go to that site and report the error? It can’t be TMDb, as that site’s name is correct.

It’s the official title of this movie on IMDb
(down to the weird half space after the comma, which has no reason to be there, if there’s already a comma present)

Interesting. I don’t know why I didn’t think to check IMDb. Probably because there’s no mention of Plex using it (other than displaying the ratings). Everything I’ve come across says it pulls metadata from TMDb. Now I know, thanks.

How about this one?

In IMDb and TMDb, Æon Flux is listed with special characters:

> **[Æon Flux (2005) - IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402022/)**
>
> Æon Flux: Directed by Karyn Kusama. With Charlize Theron, Marton Csokas, Jonny Lee Miller, Sophie Okonedo. Æon Flux is a mysterious assassin working for the Monicans, a group of rebels trying to overthrow the government. When she is sent on a mission...

> **[Æon Flux](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/8202-on-flux?language=en-US)**
>
> 400 years into the future, disease has wiped out the majority of the world's population, except one walled city, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. When Æon Flux, the top operative in the underground 'Monican' rebellion, is sent on a mission...

But in Plex, it is not:
 ![Screenshot 2023-06-04 064438](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/4/b/c/4bc2dc361f41e8e2ca2aae7d4f1d0d5ed03b22ef.png)

Where is the metadata for the title pulled from in this case?

Maybe from embedded meta data in the mp4 file?

Titles may also differ depending on what language has been selected for the library.

All pick Æon Flux

IMDB has this:

United States

- Aeon Flux(alternative spelling)

That’s probably where it’s coming from, not that it should…

Have you tried the [plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) on the movie? Title comes in correct for me with English (UK) settings so could just bad data now I’m the db which the dance will help resolve.

Wild suggestion here! I see your poster has some embedded ratings on it. Could whatever you are using to do that be effecting the title somehow?

Also, I assume your using the new modern plex movie agent/scanner, right?

Failing that, plex logs after a [plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) on the movie will help figure out what’s happening.

The ratings are from Plex Meta Manager, but that shouldn’t affect the titles afaik.

Yes.

I’ll prepare them after a new dance.

I don’t use plex meta manager but according to their website …

Manage metadata [artwork, titles, summaries, release year, etc.] for anything on your Plex server.

… which states titles so it could be a factor.

I could be way off the mark here but it looks to me to be getting info from plex-meta-manager …

```auto
Jun 05, 2023 11:54:55.873 [139782508800824] DEBUG - Request: [192.168.0.21:50535 (Allowed Network (WAN))] GET /hubs/search?query=flux&limit=30&includeCollections=1&includeExternalMedia=1 (5 live) #65db98 TLS GZIP Signed-in Token (SteveS801) (AW-1701-E)
```

Unless someone else has a suggestion, considering no one else has this issue I’d suggest disabling `plex-meta-manager` (as a test) and yet again [plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) the movie using plex’s own metadata. I’d bet once `plex-meta-manager` is removed as a factor the issue will resolve itself.

</div>

If we’re still talking about Æon Flux, my PMS also shows it as Aeon Flux. I know it wasn’t always like that, so I can only assume that, for some reason, Plex is taking the name from IMDB’s “alternative spelling”. This probably only affects users who have their library language set to “English”.

This sounds unfortunate. Why would it be pulling the alternative title as the preferred title?
