# Does Plex read tags from file metadata?

I wasn’t sure the best place to ask but before I went and tagged my photo library on my computer I wanted to know if Plex will bring those tags over or if it only recognizes tags created in Plex itself. I saw the article on auto tagging but it didn’t seem to apply specifically to my question.

Not for photos. We’ve been asking for it for a long time:
