# Does Plex Server on local machine (Intel Macbook) require internet?

It _IS_ possible, but takes a bit of prep work. There is a wonderful post with info on it kicking around the forums [here](https://forums.plex.tv/t/howto-use-plex-with-no-internet/383325). Plex themselves have a help article with info on how to use “local” authentication [here](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200890058-authentication-for-local-network-access/).
