# Does Plex support hardware decoding and encodimg with Nvidia gpu on Linux

I want to know if they added Nvidia hardware decoding on Linux. Before I think only encoding was available on linux, I don’t know if they added it. I also want to know if my Ryzen cpu will work with my Nvidia gpu for hw transcoding or if I absolutely need an intel cpu. I read the article [https://support.plex.tv/articles/115002178853-using-hardware-accelerated-streaming/](https://support.plex.tv/articles/115002178853-using-hardware-accelerated-streaming/) and other forum post and now I am more confused on what is supported and what isn’t. I will only take Plex Pass if encoding and decoding work both sides on linux and if ryzen cpu are supported. Thanks for your help and sorry if this was answered before.

yes they do support nvdec and nvenc in linux
