reposting due to no response; Whenever a user (whom I can’t identify from logs) triggers a subtitle download, my server gets stuck in a spinning state where activity is shown. I don’t want users downloading subtitles to my server. How do I disable this function? If I could identify who was downloading it, I could just tell them to stop that or even kick them off the server, but there’s no identifiers when I filter “subtitle” in the console. ---

Yet again, this happens and crashes the server. I run plex in a docker on debian. What could be causing subtitle downloading to crash it? ---

bump. Where are subtitles downloaded? Since they are running for hours (even though a subtitle is just a few kilobytes, it could perhaps be downloaded to a folder plex doesn’t have access to) ---

You might add some more details to your question to give others a better chance to dig into it. How about… what version of PMS are you using? Is this about the native subtitle search or some 3rd party agent (e.g. subzero)? IIRC other users cannot upload subtitles to your server using any of the native features. ---

Currently running 1.28.1.6041 - but it has occurred on other versions as well. Since I’m not able to find any mention of the downloaded subtitles in the logs (it only shows on the alert tab which shows how many playbacks there are\scanning etc.) I have no idea of who triggers it or what client they use. All I have to go on is that the alert tab gets stuck with “Downloading subtitles” - usually 3-6 lines of the same, and it says there until plex crashes and I have to restart the docker container. ---

Have you already checked any legacy agents of yours you might still be using for some of your libraries? ---

I’m only using the local media assets there, and plex’s own which I can’t uncheck (locked). And Theme music - which should not be related to subtitles. There’s subtitles for most of my content locally already, so there shouldn’t be any need to download new ones. I’m also certain that I’m not the one triggering it, since it happens at times when I’m not playing anything myself. ---
