Drop down notification bar visible when Plex is running

Hi

I just updated to the new client version via the Google Play Store on my S912 Android box. It's the first time I've seen the new Plex GUI layout on this box and I've had some issues that weren't there before.

The drop-down Android notification bar no longer hides when Plex is running and is visible all the way through playback. I presume this is a bug.

Does anyone else have the same issue or know a workaround?

Thanks

I'm having the same issue with an abox Android TV and the latest Plex update. That bar is driving me crazy!!!

Hi all,

same problem here. I'm using Plex with an MXQ android box, before the last update of this morning i was using the player with TV layout , now i can't find it anymore into settings and the notification bar overlaps the videos...

Hope there will be a fix in a short time...

Have a nice day all.

I had the option to switch from web to TV layout because it detected the android box and asked me. But there is no option in the settings menu as you have said.

Actually, every time I went to settings after the upgrade, it would crash. So I had to uninstall/reinstall and I can get to the settings ok now.

To be honest the new layout app on my windows machine looks much more slick than this android version. I hope they make them more similar.

For reference, my app version is shown as 6.5.1.2049 in the settings menu.

Plex need to get that bar fixed as a priority though :)

Super annoying ...I downgraded to previous version and will not upgrade any further until fixed

Is there an easy way to downgrade via the Play Store or is it a manual APK download and install?

Yes there is. Uninstall from play store, then go to APK Mirror and download the latest August build. You'll have to enable "Unknown Sources" from the security settings in Android to enable to installation.

Can you do me a huge favor, this stupid form put my email as my display name, can you edit your post above and remove my email from your quote? Thanks.

No problem, and thank you as well. Appreciate it.

I'm unable to use the FF/REW buttons on my android box air mouse remote with the new update as well as the status bar issue. FF/REW work with the last August version.

I too am having this issue with the notification bar constantly showing in the menus & when playing videos! Also, it keeps showing notices about my "On Deck" partly watched media and will not clear no matter how many times I clear them. The Android TV app keeps crashing as well. BTW I have 3x Alfawise H96 Pro+ devices and all have the same issue.

#13

How exactly do we get the Plex staff to look into the issue? I've never been quite clear of that on this board... there doesn't seem to be an official way to"log an issue" other than complain in these threads

Keep complaining. When threads grow to 10 pages a staffer usually stumbles in.

Consider this post my contribution towards 10 pages.

Here's another one.

Good luck.

I imagine an easy fix for the coders... must be an oversight in the new layout code.
They couldn't have tested it very well if everyone is having the issue to be honest though

Easy fix, however stupid solution. Downgrade to the last August build in APKMirror. Terrible that we have to go that route, but at least my Plex for Android looks and works great again.

Something like this should never happen...i mean come on.. a full screen video with a bar going across. It's a simple test... maybe they were on a release deadline and didn't care much. I like the new layout (kind of), but really don't mind being on the older version.

I actually signed up to complain about this lol

I found a third party app which will hide it but makes navigating a pain because you have to press the back button each time you need to navigate and only have about a 5 second window before it hides again and you to press the back button again.

They need to fix it.

Same here, mouse is nearly useless and can't get rid of the notification bar

I'm hopping on the the notification bar won't go away and there's no option to go back to mobile layout train. Woo Woo!
