The new plex install did not seem to execute the migration - it just installed a default setup.
I followed the guide thoroughly pinned on the forums including:
Updating to latest Plex on DSM 6
Check folder name (was correctly set to Plex)
Unistalled Plex on DSM 6
Set Timeout & restarted twice
Migrated to DSM 7.0.1, checked timeout and restarted twice
This is where the issues started. I manually installed the package downloaded from the plex website, and on installing it said that it installed CORRECTLY and did not throw the permissions errors advertised in the gude pinned here.
I set up the permissions correctly anyway, uninstalled and reisntalled the server with same success message. In my Plex weburl is see this error “The server “my server name” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again.” It is running and when i hit OPEN in package center is just takes me to a new server creation screen.
Why did it fail to detect plex folder when its names and populated correctly? and what are my next steps? Dont want to upgrade to 7.2.2 until i have this version working

You must make 100% certain to have all the permissions set
Given you’ve now installed DSM 7 and PMS didn’t migrate, you’ll have a few steps extra to do
Here is the How-To on migration.
Key points:
The Plex shared folder, and all its contents must grant Full Control permissions to ‘System Internal User’ PlexMediaServer
You will need to Uninstall the DSM 7 app and DELETE the DSM 7 instance
(either select the DELETE option when uninstalling -OR- Delete the PlexMediaServer shared folder AFTER uninstall.
Thanks very much for the quick response this, ERASING DSM 7 package worked. I did however get success & fail messages at the end of the migration. Here is what the log contained:
