Shield pro to Sonos arc . Both using same settings, same files which all work but give different results
On the shield dedicated Plex app DTS-MA shows on the Sonos app as multichannel PCM 5.1
On the shield…Kodi app with Kodi Plex add on DTS-MA shows on the Sonos app as multichannel PCM 7.1
Reporting error on Android tv dedicated plex app or app just not working correctly?
We can’t decode DTS-HD streams, so we only decode the DTS core, which would be 5.1
Thanks, how does Plex on Kodi work correctly though?
It’s using the Kodi playback engine, which will have different codec support, possibly due to licensing differences. We do not have a license to decode DTS-HD at this time.
Ok, thank you for your help. I take it the end user can not manually add a codec to Plex. Hopefully this is something Plex will implement on the near future.
No, end users cannot add codecs, and it’s unfortunately not as simple as just implementing something when it comes to licensing these kind of things.
