Server Version#: 1.27.1.5916
Player Version#: Samsung TV Plex App 2.012
For a long time I have never logged into the app to use plex. I add my 2 local networks (server subnet and IoT subnet) to the server settings so the players don’t require login. I don’t use plex for remote viewing of my content. In the last few days I had transitioned from using the TrueNAS plex jail to a Debian VM and it was working without issue.
Then yesterday the app on the Samsung TV would just hang as soon as I started it. I was able to get around this issue by uninstalling the app and reinstalling. However during playback it started showing a message “Login timed out” and I noticed the player was showing the 3 progress boxes in the top left corner. Eventually it will hang again when starting the app. I checked the console and noticed the server was saying the TV was a remote connection.
The TV is currently on a different subnet to the server as I don’t like IoT devices having direct access to my LAN infrastructure. I moved the TV to the same subnet as the server and the messages went away. So I can only presume a recent update of the server changed the way it handles remote connections, even though it is not remote and just on a different subnet.
Any help would be appreciated.
