Server Version#:1.42.2.10122 Player Version#:Plex Web 4.147.1 I have two series that were aired out of sequence - dvd ordering corrects this. When I switch the series to use tvdb (dvd order), metadata is updated to reflect the correct play order, but play order remains in the aired order. This happened to me on ‘Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23”, so to make sure it wasn’t a one-off, I tried ‘Firefly’ and found the same thing occurring. Is anyone else seeing this? ---

Does the file naming also follow DVD order? For example, play the “Don’t trust the B…” file named s01e04 using VLC, not Plex. Is the content “The Wedding” or “Making Rent”? If the former, you’ll need to rename the file to s01e05, so it matches the DVD order. If you rename any files, [Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) the series. That will purge any bad matching from the Plex database. ---

So in order for dvd order to function, the files need to actually be in dvd order? I may be delusional, but thought all this did was re-order play of existing files to the correct sequence. Is there a media manager out there that lets you name files based on anything besides aired order? Can I “hint” the correct episode order via a .plexmatch file? ---

Plex uses the file name, specifically sXXeYY, to determine the season and episode number. For example, given a file named s01e01, then Plex considers it Season 1, Episode 1. Telling Plex to use the Aired, DVD, or any other order only changes the metadata retrieved and displayed for a specific file. It does not change the order in which the files are played. You might look at Tiny Media Manager or FileBot. The free version of TMM supports TMDB ordering. The paid version supports TVDB orderings. I do not know if you can tell it “my files are named per aired ordering, please switch to dvd ordering.” FileBot is very powerful and many people use it.
