# DVR creating files that Plex won't play

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: 4.20.1
Somewhere along the way I turned on and then thought I turned off hardware encoding for the DVR (HDHomeRun Prime) But somehow I’m now getting x264-encoded .ts files but when I use the web client it never plays - just get the spinning wheel and nothing. Works fine if I use vlc on the .ts file, and for now I’m re-re-encoding with Handbrake and that resulting file is working in Plex.

Try the desktop app instead

Thanks. I tried from my Android device and at least one of the files did indeed play fine. I’m on Linux and the desktop app for that seems to work as well.
