# Dvr file size

Guide/Lineup name: FIOS WOODBURY  
Using XMLTV?:  
Channel number/Name:

Why are the saved files so large. Is there any way of saving them smaller? A 60 minute show is saving at 7 gb. These files hould no be larger than 2gb at worst

If you have a server with sufficient CPU power you can turn on “Transcode while Recording” which will save in h.264 for about 30% space reduction.

How much is sufficient CPU, passmark 2000+ per stream and preferably per core since audio tasks are not multithreaded.

Can i manualy convert after the recording is compete

You can but then you would have to reprocess for intro and commercial detection unless you cut them before compressing.

Search for postprocessing script, there is an ability to run a script inline with the post recording before it detects intro and commercials.
