I had the Plex Live TV & DVR feature working at previous place where I used to live. After moving I was not able to reconnect my HDHomeRun CONNECT immediately due to the lack of network ports. Several months later I have now corrected this and attached the HDHomeRun box. In the intervening time I have also had several PMS updates installed.
I was expecting the existing configuration etc to still be present since the network address of the HDHomeRun has not changed. And when I go the Settings Live TV & DVR it is no longer defined.
I followed the instructions and the first issue is it takes an age to bring up the wizard. I did notice in the bottom left hand corner the message ‘Unable to load DVR’ which differs from the instruction image.
I clicked ‘Setup Plex DVR’, again this takes so long I decided to enter the IP address manually. At this point the ‘busy wheel’ continues to spin and nothing happens (aka my patience ran out).
I know the device is connected and working since I am able to use HDHomeRun’s app to view the TV Channels.
I have tried downgrading my PMS to an earlier version but the installer doesn’t allow this., I’ve tried rebooting PMS but same issues.
How do I get the Live TV & DVR feature back-n-running?
Is this a known issue with the latest PMS and will be fixed soon?
Is the prior Live TV & PVR configuration the cause, and if so, where on my Synology drive can I manually edit files and delete this to start afresh?
PMS: 1.16.3.1402
Web Client: 3.104.2 (using firefox)
More specifically, I have the DVR already setup but it won’t update the guide data. When I try to manually navigate to DVR & TV settings it will either error by constant spinning activity wheel or eventually showing the DVR setup screen (when the DVR is already setup).
I have scheduled recordings for today but after that the guide data is completely gone. Thus the DVR will no longer function.
For what its worth I am in the USA so I know the new guide data switch over should still have guide data for my region.
Edit:
For what its worth I am using a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime cablecard tuner.
IMO, it really just seems like the issue here in my case is that the DVR is stuck using the old Gracenote guide data and has no way to make use of the supposedly new guide data in the USA region. There also seems to be a bug with the DVR setup.
If I reboot the NAS and quickly get into the Plex DVR settings it gives me the proper set of options to refresh the guide data and the like. However, it doesn’t actually refresh the guide and eventually starts its odd behavior.
My guess is this will need to be fixed in the next PMS update or there will be explicit instructions on how to bypass this issue coupled with a guide date fix.
Edit Again:
For what its worth, I also have a Schedules Direct account paid up for the year. However I shouldn’t need it with Plex DVR and even if I wanted to switch over to using it the DVR setings often wont load. If DVR setting do load configuration won’t go to completion.
Same issue here. I’ve used my HDHomeruns for years now and even worked with Plex for the last couple with basically no issues. But now after 1402 was installed, it pretty much useless. Reverting back to 1226 has at least allowed me to watch live TV but now after a couple weeks, my DVR schedule is empty. Plex seems to be silent on the issue.
edit…I am a US customer. I know Australia has issues also with the EPG bs.
Same issue here. Have been having trouble streaming Live TV on Roku since last week, then everything gave out yesterday. Unable to find DVRs. Going to revert to 1226 until I hear otherwise.
I have this exact issue that plex_apc_9254925 describes, except on a Server 2008 R2 Windows server that has been trucking along with Plex and LiveTV/DVR since it was available in BETA. I took one of the 1.16.x upgrades and the DVR was no longer available in the interface and required re-setup… except it never can complete setup.
Downgrading the PMS version sounds like a horrible idea just to get back to where I can delete the DVR to re-add it in current branch. (Though I will resort to it if I must). Any word from Plex Admins on this issue?
For anyone else who has been stumbling through this ridiculous interface issue I was able to piece this helpful information together from other threads (this seems to be an issue for many on this code base and older even). Re-install to an older version will work, but you can also kill/stop the process and restart it. For a short period after restart the “bad” DVR setup will be visible in the interface to delete. You can then safely go about setting it up again. (And waiting hours for guide data to sync down).
